I’ve been asked to write a valedictory speech for my cousin, who is graduating at the top of his sixth grade class this week, I believe. This address will be delivered to parents, teachers and other sixth graders, so it needs to be about self-discovery and the joys of learning and, yes, world peace.
I was going to insert a quote from some famous literary or academic figure the kids have never heard of, but I have neither the time nor the patience to hunt down a suitable quote.
I suck at speeches. I’m glad I’ve never had to give one.
